Any project that requires excavating, improving, altering, converting, repairing, extending or demolishing of lot, building or structure must first obtain a building permit. Separate permits must be obtained for land disturbing, erosion control, plumbing, heating, electrical, and building. Permits are also required for both temporary and permanent electrical service. Signs include banners, flags, balloons, and sandwich boards. |

The Building Inspector spends part of the day in the office and part of the day out in the community. If you come in or call while the inspector is out, your call or message will be returned when the inspector returns to the office. When leaving a message or coming in please be prepared to give the location address, type of inspection, and the contractor’s name. |

How To Apply For An Absentee Ballot |

State Statutes allow anyone who is unable or unwilling to go to the polls on Election Day to vote by absentee ballot. Voters no longer need to give a reason when requesting an absentee ballot. You can cast an absentee ballot in person or by mail. Please Note . . . If you are not already registered, you will also need to register to vote before an absentee ballot can be sent to you. In-Person Absentee Voting Absentee voting in the Clerk's Office is now determined by each municipality before an election. Contact the Clerk's Office for in office Absentee voting dates/times. Dog & Cat Licenses |

No person shall own or keep any dog or cat more than five (5) months of age without obtaining a license from the City of Mayville. Sections 174.05 to 174.9, Wis. Stats., shall apply to licensing of dogs. The licensing year is January 1 to December 31. Residents are reminded to please bring along your current rabies vaccination papers when licensing your dog or cat. Licenses are available by mail. Please send a copy of your rabies vaccination papers along with your payment and a self-addressed stamped envelope. Your license and vaccination papers will be mailed back to you. Current License Fees can be found on the annual fee schedule. If you do not license your dog or cat before March 31, you will be assessed a $10 late charge. Pet Fancier License If you own 4 or more dogs/cats, you must purchase a Pet Fancier License. For further information, please contact the City Clerk - 920-387-7900 x1203. |

Property Tax Payments
Real Estate Taxes 1st Installment is payable to the City of Mayville-Treasurer by January 31. Full Payments are payable to the City of Mayville-Treasurer by January 31. 2nd Installment is payable to the Dodge County Treasurer by July 31. Mailing Address: Dodge County Treasurer Questions concerning your tax bill after January 31 may be directed to the Dodge County Treasurer's Office 920-386-3782. Personal Property Taxes Full Payment is due to the City of Mayville-Treasurer by January 31. Late Payments If you are late in paying your taxes, you will be charged a penalty and interest charge by Dodge County. The interest starts on February 1 and accumulates at a rate of one percent per month. In addition, Dodge County imposes an additional penalty of one-half percent per month. Mayville EMS |

Mayville EMS is located at 102 Mill Place. It is separate from the fire department, but works closely with them. The service has three Lifeline ambulances. The service is licensed as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Service. We presently have 36 members working in three shifts - day, night, and weekends. Our training center allows for Mayville EMS to hold EMT and AEMT classes. After completing the class you are required to take the National Registry and Wisconsin State Test which incudes a written and practical exam to receive his/her license. To maintain the EMT/AEMT license, they must take continuing education prior to the next license renewal. There is also recertification on certain skills that must be done with our training officer and our medical control director quartly. The service must follow protocols from our medical control doctor. We must stay compliant with all federal, state, and local laws/regulations. There are mandatory monthly meetings/practices. Our service also gives CPR and first aid classes, and offers demonstrations/talks to the public through city organizations, churches, etc. Every year the EMT's go to all of the local schools (pre-K through 2nd grade) instructing the children about health and safety, and how to use 911. |

No vehicle may park on any street any night between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. when there is a snow event. A "snow event" means either 1) the accumulation of snow is such that snowplows are used to clear the snow, or 2) a snow emergency is declared. All vehicles must be removed from public streets and alleys from the starting time of the snow event until the streets or alleys have been cleared curb-to-curb or edge-to-edge of pavement during a snow event. If any vehicle is parked on the roadway, the police department will place a parking ticket on the vehicle and may order the vehicle towed from the street at the owner's expense. Each parking violation is $30.00 for the first 72 hours. After 72 hours, you will incur additional fees and penalties. *** PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO PARKING ON MAIN STREET BETWEEN HORICON STREET AND BUCHANAN STREET FROM 2:30AM until 5:30AM REGARDLESS OF SNOW LEVELS *** Please stop by the Mayville Police Department at 25 S. Yes, It is unlawful for any person to operate a bicycle owned by a resident of the City or kept in the City upon any City street unless the bicycle is properly registered and licensed. |

What is the curfew in Mayville? |

Curfew in the City of Mayville is 11:00pm. No person under 18 years of age may be out in a public place or in a vehicle unless accompanied by his/her parent or guardian. EXCEPTIONS. This section shall not apply to a child: These exceptions shall not, however, permit a child to unnecessarily loiter about the streets, alleys or public places or be in a parked motor vehicle on the public streets. |

Accident reports or police incident reports may be obtained at the Mayville Police Department during the hours of 8:00am and 4:00pm. Are fireworks legal to use in City limits? |

The use of Class A and Class B Fireworks are not permitted within Mayville City Limits. Only Class C Fireworks are legall to use in the City. These include"Sparklers", "Snaps", "Black Snakes", and "Champagne Poppers". Most sellers require the purchase of a permit at the time of sale. This permit is for the possession of fireworks only and does not permit the use of fireworks. |

Can people or companies sell items door-to-door? |

No. Mayville City Ordinance 193-1 states: It shall be unlawful for any direct seller, transient merchant or solicitor to engage in direct sales or solicitations within the City without being registered and licensed for that purpose. All solicitors, merchants and sellers must apply for a peddlers permit at city hall. Only after the permit is completed and paid for can they begin going door-to-door. If you have a peddler, merchant or solicitor come to your residence, you can contact the Mayville Police Department to verify whether a permit was issued or not. |
